From native applications (like preview), the corresponding option is not available. From HP Scan utility: It gets stuck in "scanning", having to forcefully close it. From printer: Communicates with my iMac, looks like it tries to scan but at the end always shows the "connection or bad communication error". If I install the driver from the CD that comes with the product it says that it's enabled, but if I try to scan to computer what happens is: When you checked the scan to computer option, was it enabled? If needed I'll try to find one compatible for the weekend. I have connected via Wireless, the printer didn't came with a USB cable. How is the printer connected to the Mac? Wireless or USB?
